Learning to build a SaaS
Three years ago, I quit my job to become an entrepreneur. My goals were vaguely defined: I wanted to learn how to program and to create something valuable out of nothing.
Since then, I have progressed on both fronts. I have started a number of projects, some of which have generated enough income for me to continue down this path.
However, I have not moved as fast as I would like. The main reason is that half of my time has been spent on consulting projects. This has provided me with financial security, but stalled both of my original goals.
My goals remain the same as three years ago and now I plan to commit only to them. I will increase my accountability in two ways: saying no to new consulting projects, and documenting my journey here.
The progress I have made has helped me clarify my previous goals. My goals now are: 1) become a proficient enough programmer to build a SaaS from the ground up, and 2) do this by building new SaaS projects and writing about what I learn on the way.
I have focused on finding good ideas for the last few weeks and I have already started building one of them. More on that in the next post!
